OVERVIEW

The trail of Pikey Peak was one of the original routes used during the first Everest expeditions back in the prime days of climbing. Since the construction of Lukla Airport, this route became unused and uncatered to the trekkers. The route lies in the lower Khumbu valley of Everest region and is one of the short and off-beaten trekking trials. Depending on the weather condition, this trek offers the jaw dropping views of seven highest peaks in the world; Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Everest, Lhotse, Manaslu, Annapurna and Shishapangma and other popular 7000 meters peaks like Gaurishanker, Lhotse Shar, Nuptse, Amadablam, Mera peak and Thamserku.

The route has been promoted a lot recently and perhaps will become a new trekking destination in the coming future for beautiful views of the Himalayas. At the moment (2020), the available lodges are still quite basic, and the villlage of Dhap where route begins from takes a long bumpy road trip of 7-8 hours.

There are several routes that lead to Pikey Peak, but we would suggest the route that begins at Dhap and finishes at Phaplu, so that you have an option of taking a flight back to Kathmandu (don't forget to check on the flight schedules), incase you would like to avoid the long drive back after the trek.
