Shashank did not grow up playing in the mountains. He was an ordinary boy growing up in boarding schools, just like a lot of kids from cities in Nepal do. In an explosion of the senses, started unforeseen in a small impromptu trek with close friends to Namche, was where he was drawn to the allure of the mountains. It was a choice devised by chance.
This unexpected trek was back in 2012 when he was 22 years of age and since then he does not have any doubt about his ability to walk long, winding steeps into the abode of unprejudiced mountains. Covering most of Nepal’s acclaimed trekking routes, he continues to grow in skill and experience. Having encountered the awe of Annapurna, Everest, Langtang and some more marvels of Nepal, the mountains, he believes has become a place of zen and meditation for him. The highest peak he has traversed till date is the “Imja Tse” also known as Island Peak, with an elevation of 6,189 meters it is situated south of Mt. Everest.
Currently, Shashank is an entrepreneur at Heritage Fashion; he evidently devotes most of his time expanding his garments trade, but whenever he makes time for himself, he goes back to the mountains.
He says the mountains push him to a place neither he nor anybody can physically or mentally reach in the “urban life”. It is where he found the person he truly is, where he learned to work through fear, because at one point in his childhood he was awfully scared of heights. It is where he experienced some of the most beautiful moments of his life; it is where he feels the healthiest mentally as he struggles physically. It is a realm he could genuinely call home.
